In this hike we will discover the beautiful region of Bouillon in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes. The hike will start from a viewpoint called the ‘Tomb of the Giant’, which is probably the most impressive viewpoint in entire Belgium and is classified as an extraordinary natural heritage site of Wallonia. It offers a splendid view over one of the most visited meanders of the river Semois. After enjoying the view for a while, we will start walking down into the valley till we reach the banks of Semois. The walk continues along the riverside before we take a short break at another viewpoint to see the spectacular surroundings of an ancient monastery overlooking the valley. The hiking trail will also take you to ‘Passerelle du Moulin de l’Epine’, a pretty suspension bridge built over the river. After a few more kilometers of walking through the valley, we head towards the Belvedere from where we can have a bird’s-eye view of the town of Bouillon from above. This is a great vantage point to take good pictures of the town below. The hike will end in Bouillon where we will have some free time to explore the town by ourselves before boarding the bus for our return journey.
