Weekend Trip Hiking in Alsace Region, France

Whattrips is taking you to France’s Alsace region where you will visit the most beautiful medieval castles ruins and beautiful lakes.

Saturday (8th of July): FOUR CASTLES HIKE, NOTHWEILER, GERMANY/FRANCE BORDER
This hike can be described as a classic in the southern Pfälzerwald. Combined with moderate gradients, four interesting castle ruins. The route takes you back and forth between Germany and France. Beautiful views, mighty rock towers and shady forests make this hike an experience. At the end of the hike, we will take you to the city of Colmar.

Sunday (9th of July): COLMAR CITY WALK & FOUR LAKES HIKE, SOULTZEREN, FRANCE 
A visit to Colmar is a must-stop while spending a weekend in Alsace. So, we will start the day with a walk to discover Colmar, the fairy-tale town of Alsace. This exceptional town is known for its colourful houses, canals, cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings that look like a perfect illustration from a storybook. Walking the streets of Colmar is like watching those childhood fairy stories come to life. It is also a town where France meets Germany and the two cultures come together to create a unique mix. We will explore it all till the afternoon before heading towards the starting point of the ‘four lakes’ hike.
‘Tour des quatre lacs’ is very beautiful hike in the middle of the low mountain range ‘Vosges’ in France. As the name suggests it goes past 4 different lakes: ‘lac noir’ (black lake), ‘lac blanc’ (white lake), ‘lac vert’ (green lake) and ‘lac du Forlet’. While the names of the lakes might seem very monotonous, the hike itself is the exact opposite. A combination of thick forest, mountain trails and even a straight run on a beautiful high plateau makes this a long but definitely interesting hike with nice variation of scenery.

08:00 hrs: Pick-up of participants in Leuven
08:30 hrs: Pick-up of participants in Brussels North
14:00 hrs: Arrival at Nothweiler and start of the hike
19:00 hrs: End of the hike and boarding of bus
20:00 hrs: Arrival in Hotel and check-in

Sunday (9th of July) 
09:00 hrs: Finish breakfast and check-out of the hotel. Board the bus to start for city walk
09:30 hrs: Arrival in Colmar City for Walk
13:00 hrs: End of the City Trip and boarding of bus
14:00 hrs: Arrival at the startpoint of the hike in Soultzeren
21:00 hrs: End of hike and boarding of bus
21:30 hrs: Bus starts for return journey to Belgium

Monday (10th of July) 
05:30 hrs: Arrival in Brussels North
06:00 hrs: Arrival in Leuven
