Weekend Trip Hiking in Ehrwald, Austria & Bavaria, Germany

We are sure that you have seen pictures of the white castle rising between the mountains. Neuschwanstein castle is probably Germany’s most famous sight – so famous that it inspired Walt Disney to use it as a design for his iconic logo, and now it has inspired Whattrips to design a hiking route to discover the different viewpoints from where this castle can be viewed best. Let’s go there and to Tyrol in Austria to hike and explore the captivating landscapes composed of lakes, mountains and castles and waterfalls. Picturesque views are guaranteed everywhere.

Saturday (8th of September): HIKING FROM EHRWALD, AUSTRIA
Have you ever visited a new place and felt ‘wow’ about it? For many visitors, it happens at Ehrwald. It may not be as popular as other cities in Austria, but don’t let that fool you. You will be surprised to explore this hidden destination through a breathtakingly beautiful hike. We will make sure that you walk through blooming nature, fresh green alpine meadows and crystal-clear mountain lakes that reflect the mountain tops like a painting… all ingredients to make it an unforgettable experience. Throughout the hike you will enjoy the scenery of picturesque Zugspitze in front of your eyes. This is a region of awesome natural beauty and can be best explored on foot, and this is exactly what we are going to do.

Sunday (9th of September): THE CASTLES HIKE
This hike starts from Fussen and will take you through three different castles – Hohenschwangau, Neuschwanstein and Hohe Schloss. The trail passes through a beautiful lake called Schwansee with impressive views of the Bavarian Alps in the background. When the water is still, you can capture great pictures of the reflections in the lake. As the hike progresses, you will walk through a bridge from which you can have a stunning view of the Neuschwanstein castle, perfect for an instagrammable pic. During the hike we will stop by several viewpoints from where you can witness panoramic views of this fairytale-like castle. In the end we will return to Fussen and walk around to explore this beautiful historical town.

Friday (8th of September) 
21:00 hrs: Pick-up of participants in Leuven
21:45 hrs: Pick-up of participants in Brussel Noord
00:05 hrs: Pick-up of participants in Liege

Saturday (9th of September) 
07:30 hrs: Break to freshen up and for toilets
09:00 hrs: Arrival at Ehrwald in Tyrol and start of the hike
17:00 hrs: End of the hike and boarding of bus
18:00 hrs: Arrival in Hotel and check-in
18:30 hrs onwards: free time for yourself

Sunday (10th of September) 
09:30 hrs: Finish breakfast and check-out of the hotel. Board the bus to start for hike
10:00 hrs: Arrival at the start-point of the hike in Fussen
18:30 hrs: End of hike and boarding of bus
19:00 hrs: Bus will starts for return journey to Belgium

Monday (11th of September) 
05:30 hrs: Arrival in Liege
07:00 hrs: Arrival in Brussel Noord
07:40 hrs: Arrival in Leuven
